The Samsung Galaxy pad will be the Android arch nemesis of the Apple iPad. While the Galaxy S
smartphones are very popular and go head-to-head with the Apple iPhone each and every day, a tablet version of the product is being released in Berlin on September 2nd.
It’s been a widely known fact that eventually other tablet computers would roll out. The HP slate was rumored to be the PC answer to the iPad, but it lost steam months ago. Now, the competing tablets are more likely to be associated with mobile phone manufacturers and carriers.
For instance, Dell’s new tablet, the Streak, has prompted a market for a hybrid tablet/smartphone product. Its release has even prompted rumors of a 7 inch iPad to be released later on.
Speaking of 7 inch tablets, the Galaxy tablet will have a 7 inch touchscreen, and run on Android 2.2 Froyo and that’s about all of the tech specs that have become widely available. In addition, it’s rumored that the device will be video call capable, hinting at the possibility of a front facing camera.
