Drew Brees won FOUR ESPY (Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly) awards Wednesday night during the ceremony. This is a big honor for the NFL star, as he has won awards such as best male athlete and best championship performance. The Awards ceremony honored some of sports greatest individuals and performances which transpired during the last 12 month period.
2010 ESPY award winners can be found here.
The best game went to the defeat of Team USA by Canada at Vancouver’s men’s hockey championships. Brett Favre got an award for best play for his touchdown pass to Lewis.
Serena Williams is the best women’s tennis star.
But perhaps the moment which has made me the most proud is that the New Orleans Saints won the award for best team performance. Their QB – Drew Brees for those who don’t know – got the best NFL player, best male athlete, and best championship performance for his accurate arm during the 201o Super Bowl.
New Orleans is a town that has been through a lot – and they are still going through a lot with the oil spill. After Katrina, the Saints gave back to the community by allowing those to seek shelter in their arena. Now, they got the top honor – sort of their karma for doing good deeds for the community – winning the ESPY awards.
