Motorola’s Droid X 2.2 Android Froyo update was initially supposed to be unveiled before the end of the summer. Of course, this
was welcomed news to many who recently bought the Verizon handset. However, the last day of summer 2010 is actually coming up quicker than you may think. That’s right folks, September 21 marks the official end of summer, thus taking us in to the fall.

It’s kind of like when Steve Jobs said that the White iPhone 4 would have a solution by “the end of the month” (that was in July) and yet the end of the month came and went and there were no updates and to this day (it’s mid-September) there’s still no resolution.
The Droid X’s smaller cousin, the Droid 2, actually comes native with the Froyo OS. Many Android smartphone owners wish they would have just waited a couple of weeks for the Droid 2 instead of the X. However, I’ve checked Verizon, I’ve checked Motorola and I’ve even called my local Verizon wireless store and there’s still no resolution to my questions about the Droid X 2.2.
If Verizon is true to their world, then the end of the Summer is less than a week away. Perhaps they will start unrolling the Droid X update – but in the meantime, we can only speculate and wish it were happening sooner.
