Bishop Eddie Long’s scandal is still the talk of Atlanta. The pastor of megachurch New Birth Missionary Baptist Church is the
subject of some pretty hefty allegations. Four young men claim that Bishop Eddie Young made unwanted sexual advances towards them while they were young men within the ministry.
Back in 1993 a somewhat similar thing happened to Michael Jackson. A father of a child that had befriended the eccentric singer claimed that his son was molested. The short version of the story is this: the child said he was molested, gave a description of Jackson’s person, and made several allegations. Even though Michael maintained his innocence, many – his sister LaToya included – blamed him for the allegations.

As time went on, a hefty multi-million dollar settlement was reached in the case by an insurance carrier, against Jackson and his legal teams’ best wishes. Eventually, Jackson went to trial and was acquitted on all charges. LaToya said that an abusive husband made her speak out against her brother.
However, Jackson – arguably one of the best musicians of our generation – never truly sprung back from the rumors. People still saw him in that light, and now he’s no longer with us.
The crux of the matter is that Michael Jackson was accused of sexual misconduct similar to Bishop Eddie Long. In the end, Jackson was judged and ridiculed because of allegations of which he was later acquitted.
I’d hate to see that happen to Bishop Eddie Long. Yes, his scandal is troubling, and answers do need to be made. If he did do what he’s accused of doing there’s no doubt he needs to be caught. On the other hand, speaking against Long and the Atlanta megachurch can only lead to further division of religion and gives not only the pastor but the church a bad name as well.
So far, no true evidence has surfaced in the matter. Bishop Eddie Long maintains his innocence. Until there’s evidence to the contrary, we need to take him at his word, be there for him and pray for him no matter what the outcome.

I don’t see much similarity to the MJ case. Don’t disrespect Michael like this until this man is also proven innconcent then you can compare.

There’s only 4 (FOUR) kids accusing him. Nah, there’s not enough suspicion in this case. Unlike MJ who’s 2 accusers (a decade apart) made the point of a shakedown, this man has a lot to answer with this criminal lawsuit.

Bishop Eddie Long is being sued for some embarrassing reasons, and some Bishop Eddie Long pictures have just been released, allegedly from the very people who are suing him. The New Birth Missionary Baptist Church, which Long is the head pastor of, has over 24,000 members. Long was a mentor to various people over the years, and several boys from those programs are who are part of the Bishop Long scandal.
