The West Memphis 3 murders were chilling to those in the mid-south. In 1993, three adorable young boys were found brutally murdered in a crime scene so gruesome, a community demanded the IMMEDIATE capture and prosecution of those responsible for the murders.
Damien Echols was a misfit who wore goth clothing and didn't fit in at all in the redneck community. He was the alleged "ringleader" pinned for these grisly murders, and the motive was supposedly some satanic cult ritual.

Only 20 days in to the new year, and already a multiple homicide. Today, a young man shot and killed his girlfriend, her father, and wounded her mother. The mother died later of complications from the shooting.
Perhaps the most disturbing part of this story is that when the young man turned himself in, he had the couple's 4 year old daughter in tow. One can't help but wonder if this precious toddler knew that her mommy was dead?

Zahra Clare Baker has been missing, and authorities have announced that remains found are likely those of Zahra Baker. She went missing in North Carolina, and amid a seemingly endless investigation, it appears as if Zahra Baker will be able to be laid to rest in peace.
The end result, however, was very devastating to the community, which was hoping that the 10 year old Bone Cancer survivor would be found alive somehow, somewhere - although her prosthetic leg was found days ago.

Hawaii Earthquake 2010 Today A 3.9 Quake. According to the USGS, there was a 3.9 earthquake today on the island of Hawaii. This is a minor earthquake, but people are on guard after the recent tsunami in Indonesia and subsequent volcanic activity.

A John Hopkins hospital shooting happened today, and this is a breaking event just in. Live coverage of the hospital campus in the aftermath of the shooting can be seen below in the embedded player. Detroit fires are raging on, just as thousands of miles away the Fourmile/Boulder Fires devastate acres of lands. The fires in Detroit are believed to have been started by dead tree limbs falling on power lines, whereas the Boulder fires were sparked by a collision with a propane tank.
