Haitian officials said the death toll from a recent cholera outbreak has reached 1,000, sparking riots in Cap-Haitien, the nation’s second-largest city. Citizens erected barricades and set them ablaze in a clash with U.N. peacekeeping troops there. Some Haitians blame the outbreak on Sudanese soldiers, whom they say introduced a strain of cholera into the water supply. Until last month, cholera had never been reported in Haiti. Four Loko banned in Michigan and Washington.  The popular alcoholic energy drink, Four Loko, has been banned in both Michigan and Washington after droves of college students have fallen ill from consuming too much alcohol after choosing Four Loko as their beverage of choice. Four Loko Banned, FDA Questions Safety of Caffeinated Alcohol.  Several college students around the country have fallen ill after consuming "Four Loko", a highly caffeinated alcoholic beverage.  The FDA is looking in to and asking questions about the effects of combining caffeine with alcohol. The 2010 Baby formula recall deals with Similac, made by Abbott Laboratories.  The recall was prompted when the company realized that Similac baby formula could be contaminated with beetle parts.  Bugs were discovered in a section of a plant in Sturgis, Michigan and as such the company issued a precautionary recall. Right now, it’s only powdered formula that is affected.  The liquid ready-to-eat version is still safe, and for the most party specialty formulas aren’t affected either.
